Gabrielle Bass, a California native, graduated cum laude from the George Washington University with a bachelors of Arts in International Affairs with a minor on African studies. During her tenure at G.W., Ms. Bass served as the president for a student-led Co-Op, which celebrated Black History and social justice movements in the Washington D.C. area. She also had the opportunity to study abroad in Ghana (West Africa) where she spent time developing health and family services for women in the Kumasi Region. Ms. Bass continued her love for travel by relocating to Bangkok, Thailand where she taught English to elementary school students learning English as a second language.
Following her return from overseas, Ms. Bass attended the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctorate. During her tenure at USC, Ms. Bass focused her career on serving indigent and underrepresented communities by clerking at the Los Angeles Public Defenders Office, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and the New York County Defender Services in Manhattan. Ms. Bass also served as a clerk for the Post Conviction Justice Program, where she represented incarcerated women at their parole board hearings. Her time at USC was also spent serving as the President of the Black Law Students Association and a member of the Public Interest Law Foundation. During law school Ms. Bass worked diligently to ensure social justice in her community while receiving honors and participating in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program.
Upon graduation, Ms. Bass passed the California State Bar and began her legal career at The Contra Costa County Public Defenders Office where she represented clients in misdemeanor cases at the arraignment, pretrial and trial level. Ms. Bass is a member of the Contra Costa County Criminal Conflicts Program and a member of the Contra Costa Bar Association.
